REACh is a new extensive legislation that will affect all involved in producing and/or importing chemicals in the European Union. REACh stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.
Its deals with all new and existing chemical substances produced in - or imported into - the EU in amounts of 1 tonne or more. All chemicals that meet these criteria will have to be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), based in Helsinki Finland.
REACh will affect all industries with chemicals in its supply chain and will replace a lot of existing chemical regulations.
